Risan is the oldest settlement on the Bay of Kotor and part of a World Heritage site, closely linked to the neighboring town of Perast in Montenegro. An Illyrian stronghold long before Rome, it is remembered as the refuge of Queen Teuta and preserves the finest Roman mosaics on the eastern Adriatic, including the celebrated depiction of Hypnos, god of sleep. This documentary walks its quiet waterfront and its excavated villa floors, tracing more than two thousand years of continuous habitation at the innermost reach of the bay, where the mountains fall directly into the sea.
