The Church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani, Paros, Part 2

The Church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani, Paros, Part 2

Continuing our exploration above the public garden of Parikia in Paros, this second part revisits the Church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani—one of Greece's oldest and most historically important churches—known as the 'Church of the Hundred Doors' and also called Panagia Katapoliani. Attention turns to the interior: the marble iconostasis and ancient columns of the nave, the icons and reliquaries of its collection, and the adjoining baptistery, whose cruciform immersion font is among the best preserved in the Orthodox world. Also examined are the monastic cells and courtyards that grew up around the church, the Byzantine museum installed within them, and the great feast of the Dormition each August.
