The Mosteiro de São Bento da Vitória stands as one of Porto's most significant historic and religious landmarks. Rich in architectural heritage, this former Benedictine monastery reflects centuries of monastic tradition and now serves as a cultural venue, preserving its historic character within the heart of the city. Raised from the late 16th century in the Vitória quarter, on high ground overlooking the Douro and the old Jewish district, its sober granite church and long conventual wings are a fine expression of the austere classical manner of the Portuguese Benedictines.
