Explore Yehi'am Fortress National Park, a site steeped in cultural history, conflict, and heroism. Purchased from Lady Stephanie de Milly by the Teutonic Knights around the turn of the 13th century, the fortress they built was later sacked by Mamluk Sultan Baybars, leaving behind striking architecture including domes, walls, and crenellated defenses. Known to the Crusaders as Judin, the ruin was rebuilt in the eighteenth century by the Galilean ruler Dahir al-Umar, whose vaulted halls and tower stand among the earlier work. A kibbutz founded beside it in 1946 took the name Yehi'am, and the hilltop looks out over the wooded ridges of the Western Galilee.
