Just 26 kilometres from the tourist hub of Zlatibor, in the village of Sirogojno, lies Serbia's only open-air museum: Staro Selo, or Old Village. This cultural heritage site holds deep historical and anthropological significance, preserving traditional rural life for visitors to explore. Timber houses, dairies, bread ovens, barns and workshops brought from the surrounding highlands have been reassembled across the hillside to recreate authentic Zlatibor homesteads of the 19th century, complete with their furnishings and tools. Craft demonstrations, wool knitting and seasonal customs bring the setting to life, making it an unusually vivid portrait of Serbian mountain traditions.
