The Kuan Yin Temple is a Chinese temple in Malaysia dedicated to the Buddhist goddess of mercy, Kuan Yin, known in Sanskrit as Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion. This documentary explores its ornate architecture and devotional traditions — spirals of incense, carved dragons, painted timber and offerings left throughout the day — reflecting the deep Chinese cultural heritage present across the country. Brought by generations of migrants from southern China, such temples remain living community centres as much as places of worship, and their calendar of festivals fills them with colour and sound.
