Discover the Cerro da Vila Museum and Archaeological Site, a remarkable window into the layered past of this sun-soaked coastal region. Here stood a Roman villa and maritime settlement whose owners grew wealthy from the sea: excavations have revealed residential quarters, bath complexes, mosaic floors and the tanks once used to salt fish and produce garum, the prized sauce shipped across the empire. Later Visigothic and Islamic occupation left further traces, and the on-site museum presents the finds recovered from the ruins.
