The Old Mosque stands as a significant piece of Islamic architectural heritage in Russia, reflecting the long and layered history of Muslim communities within the country. This historic site offers insight into the cultural and religious traditions shaped over centuries, and into a faith that has been part of the Russian landscape for far longer than most foreign audiences assume. The film approaches the building patiently, following the play of light across its prayer hall, the geometry of its ornament and the discipline of the daily offices held within it. Rather than commentary, it offers observation: a portrait of a working place of worship, filmed in 4K, that lets the architecture and the community that sustains it speak for themselves.
