음디나, 침묵의 도시

음디나, 침묵의 도시

Mdina occupies the highest ground in central Malta, a defensive choice made long before the island's fortified harbours existed. For centuries it was the capital, and even after power moved to the coast it remained the seat of the old aristocracy and of the cathedral. The film follows the approach across the ditch and through the monumental gate, then into a compact street plan designed for shade and defence: lanes barely wide enough for two people, blind facades, carved doorways, sudden small squares. Baroque rebuilding after a devastating earthquake gave much of the town its present face, layered over Norman and earlier fabric. The cathedral, the palaces still held by Maltese noble families, and the bastion walks with their long views over the island complete the portrait. At night, when the day visitors have gone, the silence that gives Mdina its nickname becomes literal. Filmed in 4K with aerial coverage.
