칸쿤의 고고 유적

칸쿤의 고고 유적

The name Cancun now evokes hotels and beaches, but the same strip of land carries the remains of a much older occupation. Several Maya sites survive between the lagoon and the sea, small in scale compared with the great inland cities yet informative in a different way: they belong to a coastal world of ports, shrines and way stations along a maritime trading route that ran the length of the Caribbean shore of the peninsula. The film surveys the surviving platforms, low temple structures, plazas and alignments, reading them for what they reveal about how the coast was settled and used. Iguanas hold the ruins, sea wind moves through the vegetation, and the towers of the modern hotel zone rise just beyond the perimeter — a contrast the film uses deliberately. Aerial and ground photography in 4K make it a useful, compact archaeology title for slots on the Maya world and on heritage under pressure from tourism.
