Bethphage marks the traditional starting point of Jesus's triumphal entry into Jerusalem, commemorated on Palm Sunday. This second part continues exploring the village, located between Bethany and the Mount of Olives, and its church housing a stone traditionally identified as the one used to mount the donkey at the start of the procession. Cared for by the Franciscans, the sanctuary was raised in the nineteenth century over medieval foundations, and the venerated block still carries painted scenes from the Crusader period. From the terrace the road drops westward towards the Kidron Valley and the Old City walls, following the route taken each year by the Palm Sunday procession that gathers thousands of pilgrims and local Christians.
