Located in the Aosta Valley, in north-western Italy, the Castello di Aymavilles reflects centuries of architectural transformation, from medieval fortress to noble residence. Four round corner towers survive from its defensive phase, later enveloped in an elegant eighteenth-century residential remodelling carried out for the Challant family, one of the valley's dominant noble houses. The outcome is an unusual hybrid in which military mass and decorative refinement stand side by side, surrounded by vineyards on the terraced slopes below the Gran Paradiso massif. This documentary explores the towers, the interiors and the alpine setting, revealing the historical layers that shaped this landmark.
