The Senora Synagogue stands as a testament to Turkey's rich Jewish heritage, reflecting centuries of history, faith and cultural continuity. Reached through the narrow lanes of an old commercial quarter, it belongs to the tradition of Sephardic houses of prayer whose plain outer walls give little indication of the ornament within, and the film takes its time over the interior: the reading platform, the ark, the hanging lamps and the benches worn by generations of use.
