卢汉圣母:阿根廷的伟大朝圣

卢汉圣母:阿根廷的伟大朝圣

The town of Lujan owes its existence to a devotion. Tradition holds that a cart carrying a small terracotta image of the Virgin stopped on this spot and could not be moved until the figure was set down, and a sanctuary grew where it remained. Our Lady of Lujan became the patroness of Argentina, and the image is still the reason people come. The basilica that shelters it today is a nineteenth-century project in the neo-Gothic manner, its twin spires visible from far across the flat country of the pampas. Inside, the scale is deliberately overwhelming: high vaults, stained glass, side chapels crowded with plaques and offerings left in thanks for prayers answered. What gives the place its particular character is the pilgrimage. Once a year, an immense crowd walks from Buenos Aires to Lujan, a journey of many hours in which families, parishes and strangers share the road through the night. The film follows both registers: the architecture in its silence, and the town transformed by the arrival of the crowd. Filmed in 4K, it suits strands on sacred sites, Latin American culture and popular devotion.
