恩卡雷姆锡安圣母女修院

恩卡雷姆锡安圣母女修院

Ein Karem is one of the few places near Jerusalem that still reads as a village: stone houses stacked on a steep valley, springs, olive terraces and church towers rising among the trees. Christian tradition has long linked it to John the Baptist, and over the centuries it has drawn congregations from across the Christian world, each building its own house on the slope. The convent of Our Lady of Sion belongs to that landscape. Its buildings and gardens spread across terraces planted with pine and cypress, arranged around courtyards, arcades and walks that open onto the valley. The Congregation of Our Lady of Sion, founded in the nineteenth century, has long combined contemplative life with hospitality and education, and the house continues to receive guests, retreatants and pilgrims. Filmed in 4K, the site offers a register rarely available in the Holy Land: not monumentality but atmosphere — light through pine branches, the sound of water, the daily choreography of a small community. It works as a standalone portrait and as an entry point into the wider story of Ein Karem and the religious houses that shaped it.
