加利利的加纳:婚宴堂

加利利的加纳:婚宴堂

A short drive north of Nazareth, the village of Kafr Kanna spreads over the low hills of Lower Galilee. At its centre stands the Franciscan Wedding Church, built to commemorate the episode related in the Gospel of John: the marriage feast at which, according to Christian tradition, water was turned into wine. Under the nave, archaeological remains of earlier buildings can be seen, and stone jars recall the vessels of the account. A Greek Orthodox church a few steps away honours the same memory in its own liturgical language. The site has a particular audience: couples who come from all over the world to renew their marriage vows, in ceremonies held throughout the year. Filmed in 4K, the programme places the sanctuary within its village setting of markets, minarets and bell towers, and within the wider Galilean landscape of olive groves and hills where the Gospel narratives are anchored.
