奥斯塔谷巴德要塞·下集

奥斯塔谷巴德要塞·下集

What stands on the rock of Bard today is a fortress of the nineteenth century, rebuilt by the House of Savoy after the destruction ordered by Napoleon. It is a textbook of its period: three groups of works stacked one above the other up the rock, linked by ramps and stairs, with casemates, cisterns, barracks, firing galleries and courtyards designed for artillery defence in depth. Never attacked, it fell into disuse and then into abandonment, before a major restoration turned it into one of the most ambitious cultural complexes of the Italian Alps, with a museum devoted to the mountains, exhibition halls and panoramic lifts climbing the cliff. This second part explores the architecture from the lowest gate to the summit, and shows how a redundant military machine has been given a second life. Filmed in 4K, with aerial photography of the works and the valley below.
