拉亚茨酒窖村

拉亚茨酒窖村

The idea is disarmingly simple and the result is unlike anything else in the region: rather than store their wine at home, the growers of Rajac built it a village of its own. Set among the vineyards of eastern Serbia, the pimnice are cellars of dressed stone, half-sunk into the slope, with tiled roofs, gable fronts and heavy timber doors, arranged along lanes as if a real settlement had been laid out - a place with streets and neighbours but no inhabitants. The film explores the architecture and the vernacular craftsmanship behind it, descends into the cool interiors where barrels are still kept, and follows the growers of the Negotin wine district through the working year, from pruning to harvest and pressing. It is a portrait of a landscape shaped entirely by a single crop. Well suited to rural-heritage, gastronomy and vernacular-architecture strands.
