كنيسة سيدة المياه

كنيسة سيدة المياه

The Church of Our Lady of the Waters belongs to the older religious fabric of Bogotá's historic quarter, where narrow streets rise towards the mountains that close the city to the east. Its exterior is deliberately modest, whitewashed walls, a simple bell gable, a doorway opening straight onto the street, in the tradition of colonial parish churches built to serve a neighbourhood rather than to impress a court. The interior tells another story: a single nave leading to a carved and gilded altarpiece, side images dressed and adorned by the community, votive offerings, candles and flowers renewed daily. The episode films the building as a place of practice, following the rhythm of masses, the gestures of individual prayer and the care given to its images, and reads the church as evidence of how devotion has shaped everyday urban life in the Andean capital.
