جبل التطويبات وكنيسته

جبل التطويبات وكنيسته

Rising gently above the north-western shore of the Sea of Galilee, the Mount of Beatitudes is among the most evocative landscapes of the Gospels: the hillside where Christian tradition places the Sermon on the Mount and the eight Beatitudes. The church that crowns it is octagonal, its eight sides answering the eight blessings, and it was designed by the Italian architect Antonio Barluzzi, who shaped much of the modern architecture of the Holy Land's sanctuaries. A cloistered arcade runs around the building and opens onto the lake, so that liturgy and landscape are never separated. Below, terraced gardens, palm avenues and belvederes look out across the water towards Capernaum and Tabgha. Filmed in 4K, the site offers a rare combination of architectural clarity, Mediterranean vegetation and wide open water — a place where text and terrain can be read together. The programme follows the daily rhythm of pilgrimage, the shifting light on the lake through the day, and the quiet stewardship of the religious community that maintains the sanctuary.
