The Monastery of Logovarda, Paros

The Monastery of Logovarda, Paros

Built in the mid-17th century, the Logovarda Monastery stands as one of the largest and most venerated monasteries on the Greek island of Paros. Part of the Cyclades, Paros preserves a rich historical and cultural legacy shaped by Byzantine and post-Byzantine architecture, and Logovarda has earned an enduring reputation within Greek Orthodoxy and Cycladic culture. Dedicated to the Life-Giving Spring, the community lies north of Parikia on the road toward Naoussa, its whitewashed cells and church set behind a walled courtyard in the fortified manner of Aegean monasteries. It remains an active male monastery, known for its bookbinding workshop and its library of manuscripts and printed volumes, and access follows a strict rule.
