Rohtas Fort, Pakistan

Rohtas Fort, Pakistan

The Potohar Plateau of northern Punjab, Pakistan, is rich with historical monuments, among them the vast Rohtas Fort. Raised in the sixteenth century by Sher Shah Suri to hold the region against his rivals, it is one of the largest fortress complexes in the world and an outstanding example of Muslim military architecture in South Asia, qualities that earned it inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Its sprawling grounds include massive boundary walls running for kilometres, monumental gateways, interlinking staircases, scattered wells and lonesome structures left to the plateau. Filmed in 4K.
