Montevideo & Rambla, Uruguay

Montevideo & Rambla, Uruguay

Montevideo, Uruguay's vibrant capital and largest city, unfolds along the scenic Rambla, its iconic waterfront promenade stretching for some twenty kilometres beside the Río de la Plata. This documentary explores the archaeological and cultural heritage woven through the city's historic streets and coastal landscape, beginning in the Ciudad Vieja, where colonial-era buildings and nineteenth-century civic architecture cluster around Plaza Independencia and the surviving gate of the old walled town. From there the film follows the shoreline past beaches, parks and residential districts, showing how the Rambla binds the city together as its principal public space and the stage for everyday Montevidean life.
