聖週間 第4部

聖週間 第4部

This fourth chapter completes the Jerusalem Holy Week series, following the observance into its final and most intense days. The rhythm changes: after the open-air processions of the first part of the week, the ceremonies draw inward, concentrating in the Old City lanes and then within the Church of the Holy Sepulchre itself, where several Christian communities keep their own rites, their own chapels and their own hours in the same building. The film observes the practical reality behind the liturgy — the preparation of the church, the ordering of the crowds, the negotiation of space and time between communities — and the emotional register of processions that move slowly through streets barely wide enough to hold them. Filmed close, in candlelight and in the compressed acoustics of stone interiors, it captures what distinguishes Jerusalem from every other Easter observance: the events are commemorated at the sites that tradition assigns to them, within a few hundred metres of one another. The chapter stands alone, and also completes a series that can be programmed as a full seasonal block.
