For kilometres in every direction the Banat is flat, which makes the hills above Vršac all the more emphatic - and the lone medieval tower on the ridge above the town all the more visible. The film uses that contrast as its structure, moving between the heights, where vineyards climb the slopes and the ruined tower commands a view deep into two countries, and the town below, with its long central street, its baroque and nineteenth-century façades, and the Orthodox and Catholic churches that mark the confessional mix of the Vojvodina. Winemaking is followed through the working year, from the vineyards to the cellars, as the activity that has shaped local prosperity and identity.
