앙코르와트

앙코르와트

Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument ever constructed and the culminating achievement of Khmer architecture. Raised in the twelfth century as a temple to Vishnu and later taken into Buddhist use, it is organised as a cosmic diagram: a vast moat, a processional causeway, three rising enclosures and five towers shaped like lotus buds. Its galleries carry some of the most extensive bas-relief cycles in the world, among them the Churning of the Sea of Milk, and its walls are populated by hundreds of celestial dancers. The site is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of Angkor. This episode uses 4K to do what still photography cannot: follow the axial geometry from the causeway to the central sanctuary, read the reliefs as continuous narrative, and register the monument's daily rhythm, from dawn on the reflecting pools to the monks who still cross its courtyards.
