갈리칸투 성 베드로 성당

갈리칸투 성 베드로 성당

Its name comes from the Latin for cockcrow, and the golden bird on the roof states the subject plainly: this is a church built to commemorate a failure, the moment Peter denied knowing Christ three times before dawn. It stands on the slope running down from Mount Zion towards the Kidron valley, on a site long associated by tradition with the house of the high priest Caiaphas. Below the modern church, chambers, cisterns and cavities cut into the bedrock are shown as the place where Jesus is said to have been held overnight. Outside, a broad flight of ancient steps descends towards the valley floor, a street in use in the period. The terraces command one of the finest views over the City of David and the Kidron. Filmed in 4K, above ground and below.
