リスボン歴史地区 第二部

リスボン歴史地区 第二部

The second episode continues the exploration of historic Lisbon, moving outward from the reconstructed grid of the Baixa. It opens onto the Praca do Comercio, the vast riverside square that replaced the royal palace destroyed in 1755 and turned the Tagus itself into the city's ceremonial front. From there it climbs to the Chiado and the Bairro Alto, quarters of theatres, bookshops and cafes rebuilt after their own more recent fire, and to the miradouros, the terraces from which the entire city reads as a slope of pale facades and red roofs. Along the way, the film looks closely at the elements that give Lisbon its surface identity: azulejo tiles covering entire buildings, wrought ironwork, patterned limestone pavements, and the yellow trams that still climb the steepest streets. Churches, convents and small palaces punctuate the route. Taken with the first part, it forms a complete and highly photogenic portrait of one of Europe's most distinctive capital cities.
