The Congregation of Our Lady of Sion was founded in the nineteenth century and established houses in the Holy Land during the great expansion of religious institutions there, building convents, schools and guesthouses that still shape the urban landscape today. The congregation's particular vocation — the study of Jewish tradition and the relationship between Christianity and Judaism — gives its houses a character distinct from purely contemplative orders: alongside chapel and cloister there are libraries, teaching rooms and spaces for encounter. This programme enters one such convent. It follows the arc of a day from the first office to evening, moving through the chapel, the corridors, the courtyards and the gardens, and observing the practical work — cooking, welcoming, maintaining, studying — that sustains a community. Interviews and observation give the sisters the space to explain the vocation in their own words.
