ワット・セーンスークハーラーム(ルアンパバーン)

ワット・セーンスークハーラーム(ルアンパバーン)

Colour is the first subject here. Wat Sensoukaram fronts the principal street of the Luang Prabang peninsula with a facade of deep red covered in gilded ornament, a surface that changes character with every hour of daylight and glows under evening lamps. The film examines how that effect is built: stencilled and applied gold leaf, moulded stucco, mirrored inlay, and the low tiered roofline that anchors the composition. Inside, the ordination hall follows Lao convention, with Buddha images in the raised attitude of protection and painted panels along the walls. Beyond the aesthetics, the film records a working monastery: novices at study, the pre-dawn alms procession forming outside the gate, ceremonies that draw residents from the surrounding streets. Situated in the historic town inscribed on the World Heritage List, it is one of the most photogenic sacred buildings in Laos and an obvious highlight for heritage programming. Filmed in 4K.
