コトル大聖堂

コトル大聖堂

Kotor is wedged between the mountain wall and the innermost reach of its bay, and its cathedral is the anchor of the walled town. Dedicated to Saint Tryphon, whose cult is central to the city's identity, the building presents a broad west front framed by two bell towers, a silhouette recognisable from every approach. Inside, the film examines the Romanesque core of the church, the stone canopy above the altar, the surviving wall paintings and the reliquary chapel where the treasury is kept — a collection of gold and silver work, reliquaries and vestments accumulated across centuries of maritime prosperity. Earthquakes have repeatedly damaged the cathedral, and successive repairs are legible in its fabric, a reminder of how much of the Adriatic coast's heritage exists in restored form. Sequences in the surrounding squares, alleys and city walls place the cathedral in one of the best-preserved fortified towns of the Mediterranean. Filmed in 4K.
